About the UPSIO

The University of the Philippines System Information Office is the main public information office of the university. It’s history goes as far back as to the term of UP President Jorge C. Bocobo, who established the UP Information Service in 1936. In 1972, UP President Salvador P. Lopez renamed the office as the UP System Information Office.

The UP System Information Office is tasked with two functions:

  • Information dissemination
  • Public relations

In pursuit of these aims, it regularly produces two publications:

The UP System Information Office is currently headed by it’s Deputy Director, Ms. Frances Fatima M. Cabana. It operates directly under the Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs.
